Benton, KY – A change taking effect July 15th will toughen Kentucky laws for driving under the influence of drugs. It's just one of several provisions of House Bill 265, sponsored by Benton Democratic State Representative Will Coursey.
According to The Paducah Sun, the change also lowers the blood-alcohol level for enhancing punishment for driving while intoxicated and outlaws synthetic marijuana and a hallucinogenic drug made from the extract of pepper plants.
Coursey says the bill had the strong backing of the state police, prosecutors, and county attorneys.
