Grant Funds More Jobs for Dislocated Workers

By Angela Hatton

Hopkinsville, KY – A grant from the U.S. Department of Labor may help up to 160 dislocated workers find on-the-job training in Kentucky. The state has received nearly one million dollars to help businesses manage the cost of training workers. West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board Director Sheila Clark says this money is on top of funds the state has already provided for similar initiatives. State officials estimate 64 employers will benefit from the funding. Clark says many of the businesses that apply for the grants are in the manufacturing sector. She doesn't know how many of those will be in western Kentucky, but says the region has several businesses that could be in the running.
