Springfield, IL – Community groups in Illinois say federal stimulus funds helped double the number of homes weatherized to help save energy and money. The Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies says its members weatherized 17,000 homes in the past year. The annual savings for homeowners averages just over $400. The group estimates the work also supported 500 jobs. Illinois' weatherizing effort cost totals $43 million.
