Frankfort, KY – Kentucky officials are citing Webster County Coal over a roof fall that killed two workers in April. The Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing issued a report
Wednesday on the April 28th roof collapse at the Dotiki mine on the Webster-Hopkins county line. Webster County Coal, the mine's operator, was issued a notice of non-compliance for violations of state laws that require companies to have adequate roof control plans in underground mines.
Officials will refer their findings to the state's Mine Safety Review Commission, which could choose to impose fines on the company. The report says roof supports failed, leading to the collapse that killed 27-year-old Justin Travis and 28-year-old Michael Carter.
