Paducah, KY – West McCracken Fire Department and TVA officials are expected to meet next week to discuss emergency access to the Shawnee Fossil Plant. Assistant Chief Larry Adams tells the Paducah Sun he was denied entry during a response to a fire there earlier this week, despite one of his units already being on the scene. The plant's fire brigade extinguished the blaze, canceling a call for aid from outside departments and the entry gate was closed off. The incident was the second serious fire at the plant in five months. Three of the plant's 10 power generating units remain shut down as of yesterday, while officials investigate the cause.
