Boston, MA – Governor Beshear says last year's legislative overhaul of Kentucky's economic incentives packages is paying off. The governor made the claim last weekend at the annual meeting of the National Governor's Association in Boston.
Speaking at a forum on "Redesigning State Government," Beshear said the reforms now enable Kentucky to offer inducements to businesses already operating in the Bluegrass for the purpose of preserving jobs.
"Because of the changes we now can work with our existing businesses and help them expand and grow and also provide incentives for that," Beshear says, "and it has created during this last 15 months more economic activity in Kentucky than we've had since the start of this recession."
The Governor says his economic development team now works simultaneously on plans to keep industries in Kentucky, as well as attract new firms.
