Paducah to Refinance Bonds; Gets Update on City Manager Search

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Paducah city commissioners hope to save over half-a-million dollars by refinancing a 25-year $9 million bond. Interest rates are now lower than when the city purchased the bond in 2001. The bond will be sold at the end of the month following a July 27th vote.

In other highlights, the company conducting the executive search for the City Manager position is narrowing down a list of 53 applicants. Mercer Group will present commissioners with a pool of less than a dozen candidates to fill the position. Additional vetting, background and reference checks are expected to further narrow that list down and commissioners plan to interview the final candidates in the beginning of August.
