Reidland-Farley Fire Dept. Makes a Trade

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Reidland-Farley fire department officials will trade the quarter-million-dollar-plus fire and rescue boat purchased last year for two used fire trucks worth almost $200,000. Board members voted unanimously yesterday agreeing to the trade with an Alabama company. Trustee Doug Moore tells the Paducah Sun despite an almost $80,000 loss, it's the best financial resolution the department could hope for.

The two trucks are in excellent condition. One is a 50-foot aerial ladder truck and the other is a rescue pumper.

Officials have had no luck selling the fire-rescue boat, which has been a focus of public scrutiny after it was purchased before grant funding that would pay for it was awarded.
