Bowling Green, KY – Several new laws take effect today, but a Kentucky mother is grateful for one in particular. Amanda's law will allow judges to order GPS bracelets for domestic violence offenders who violate orders of protection. Diana Ross' daughter Amanda was shot to death last September outside her Lexington home. She hopes judges will order the tracking devices whenever possible, despite concerns about cost.
"Every domestic violence case should really be treated as a potential homicide. My concern is another person being murdered when a judge should have ordered GPS and did not."
Steve Nunn of Barren County is awaiting trial in the murder of 29-year-old Amanda Ross. The two had dated several years, and for a time, were engaged to be married. Nunn is a former state lawmaker, and son of Governor Louie B. Nunn.
