Henderson County, KY – The Kentucky Division of Water is holding a public hearing tonight to invite comments on a wastewater discharge permit for a planned coal gasification plant in Henderson County. The hearing for the Cash Creek Generation plant will focus on proposed modifications to the wastewater permit.
The state had issued a final wastewater permit for the plant in February. But it made revisions after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in May challenged the issuance of the permit. The estimated $2 billion project in Henderson County would convert coal into synthetic natural gas.
