Manufacturer Plans Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

Murray, KY – Small engine manufacturer Briggs and Stratton Corporation plans a $35.5 million renovation plan at its Murray plant. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear joined company and local officials to make the announcement.

"The company plans to make significant renovations to its facility and fixtures, upgrade tooling, install new machinery, and provide new expanded workforce skills."

Briggs and Stratton is one of the largest employers in Murray with 640 full-time workers. Officials expect renovation work to last three years. The company is also receiving $15 million in state tax incentives over ten years through the Kentucky Reinvestment Act. Also in Murray, Beshear presented the city police department with $22,000 for roadway safety programs.
