Hopkinsville, KY – A Western Kentucky businessman has notified the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance that he intends to begin raising money to run for state treasurer. Steve Hamrick of Hopkinsville has been active in Republican politics for decades. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1992 and 1994. Hamrick filed his letter of intent with the state agency Tuesday. The 59-year-old Hamrick is seeking the office now occupied by Democrat Todd Hollenbach. Hollenbach didn't immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
