Paducah, KY – Separate wrecks closed both bridges connecting Paducah and Illinois at around the same time yesterday. A tractor-trailer and a small truck collision spilling out around 100 bushels of soy beans and other debris closed down traffic on the Interstate 24 Bridge for about 2 hours. As emergency responders rerouted traffic to instead cross the Irvin Cobb Bridge, an oversized-load tractor-trailer struck the corner of the overhanging portion of the bridge, shutting it down for about 20 minutes. One man was injured in the pair of wrecks, but is reported to be in fair condition.
