Clarksville, TN – Clarksville, Tennessee's Chief of Police wants to expand the city's red-light camera system to cover more intersections. Chief Al Ansley says in the past year crash numbers are down at the seven intersections where the cameras operate. Ansley suggests monitoring up to two or three potential intersections: Fort Campbell Boulevard and Lafayette Road, 101st Airborne Parkway and Peachers Mill Road, and Highway 76 and Interstate 24. Ansley says camera-maker Redflex Traffic Systems is studying the sites. Clarksville contracts Redflex Traffic Systems to monitor the cameras, which automatically snap shots when a vehicle runs a red light. Ansley says camera installation is free to the city, but Redflex receives a portion of the citation fee for red-light violations.
