Louisville, KY – Numbers from the Federal Election Commission website show both candidates for Kentucky's soon-to-be-vacant US Congressional seat have received noteworthy donations from out-of-state sources. Democratic candidate Jack Conway received funds from actors and entertainers including Maurie Povich, as well as horse trainer Dale Romans. Republican candidate Rand Paul received donations from many doctors and other traditional Republican Party donors including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. The Louisville Courier Journal reports Paul has also received smaller donations from people atypical to political fundraising, thanks to an online fundraising style popularized by his father during his recent presidential bid. Both men raised just under 4-million-dollars last quarter, which ended June 30th.
