Paducah, KY – Upcoming construction of the McCracken County jail annex will require the Fiscal Court borrow over $4 million to pay for it. Members introduced an ordinance yesterday proposing to purchase a bond. A final vote of approval is scheduled in two weeks. The annex will house 130 low-risk inmates in work programs. It will also be part public safety building, serving as a satellite hub for the Mercy Regional Ambulance service and storage space for the McCracken County Sheriff's Department. The Paducah Sun reports site preparation has already begun and officials expect to award a contract to build the annex in October.
