Quinn Signs K2 Ban

By AP

Springfield, IL – The sale of synthetic marijuana, often known as "K2," will soon be banned in Illinois. Governor Pat Quinn signed the measure into law yesterday, classifiying the product as a controlled substance starting at the beginning of next year. The herbal product is frequently marketed as incense or potpourri and has a synthetic chemical similar to tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, which is found in marijuana. One of the bill's sponsors, Democratic State Senator Kwame Raoul says smoking the substance can be harmful and laws must evolve as people continue to invent new ways to get high.
