Paducah, KY – In a fifth meeting since its inception over a year ago, the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce-appointed committee looking at ways to merge the Paducah and McCracken County governments, will soon preview a draft comprehensive plan. The plan's author, Vice Chairman Tom Garrett has been studying government mergers for six years now and says his plan is a starting point for what voters will ultimately decide at the polls in November of next year. The Paducah Sun reports the committee has been hearing success stories of other metropolitan mergers that have benefited economic development and improved their communities.
