Festering Issues may rise at Fancy Farm

By Tony McVeigh

Fancy Farm, KY – On May 18th, political neophyte Rand Paul defeated Secretary of State Trey Grayson for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. At a unity rally shortly thereafter, Republicans - including Grayson - pledged to support Paul in November.

In the Democratic primary, Attorney General Jack Conway narrowly defeated Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo. But two months later, Mongiardo still hasn't endorsed Conway.

Apparently at issue is Mongiardo's $77,000 campaign debt, and whether or not promises were made by the Conway camp to help retire the debt. With less than one hundred days before the General Election, the issue continues to fester. Will it come to a head at Fancy Farm? Possibly.

Among those scheduled to speak at the annual political slugfest are Mongiardo, Conway and Paul.
