Murray, KY – Design work is underway for the new Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake bridges. A "basket handle" design will carry US 68 and KY 80 across both bodies into the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The two new bridges will be the only two of this design in the state. They will include a hike and bike path. Highway officials expect this planning stage to last approximately nine months. The projected completion date is sometime during 2017.
