Murray, KY – Many local electric companies say their grids should remain operational despite increased usage during the heat wave. Jamie Sears with West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation says her colleagues are confident despite current intense conditions.
"We are prepared for additional loads that may come because of heat in the past. And in the future, I know especially with this gigantic heat advisory we have, but we are prepared for that and we don't foresee any problems with being able to maintain electric service to our members."
Officials from Paducah Power Services and Jackson Purchase Energy say they are also prepared for the advisories. So far, none of these companies have reported stresses to the power grid. The heat advisory in effect for our area continues today and into tomorrow night.
