Harrison Yonts Out on Parole

By Angela Hatton

La Grange, KY – A man convicted of killing a Murray State University graduate student in 2005 is out on parole. A two-member board granted Harrison Yonts parole following a hearing this morning at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in La Grange. Department of Corrections spokesperson Jennifer Brislin says officials will release Yonts into the custody of his family in Greenville. Brislin says Yonts may only drive to work and to substance-abuse treatment. A jury convicted Yonts to 20 years for the hit and run death of Nadia Shaheen. Yonts was driving under the influence at the time. Former Governor Ernie Fletcher reduced the sentence to eight years, moving up Yonts' chances for parole. Brislin says Yonts will be paroled until the end of June 2011.
