Paducah, KY – Hot weather will dominate across all of Kentucky this week, but the Jackson Purchase counties are expected to have dangerously hot conditions. The National Weather Service has posted an excessive heat watch for cities including Paducah, Mayfield, Murray and Hickman beginning at noon today and lasting until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Heat indices, the combined effect of heat and humidity, are expected to reach 100 to 115 degrees, energized by air temperatures at or near 100 degrees.
Meteorologists caution that it will be a dangerous situation; people should drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioning as much as possible and check on the welfare of relatives and neighbors. At present, the forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms by Thursday.
