La Grange, KY – The Kentucky Parole Board today will consider an early release for Harrison Yonts, the former Murray State student convicted of a DUI hit and run death five years ago. Yonts killed 62-year-old graduate student Nadia Shaheen as she walked home along Murray's Coldwater Road early one morning. Shaheen's son, Joe, plans to address the board today neither opposing nor supporting Yonts' parole. Instead he tells the Paducah Sun he plans to comment on what he calls a failure of the criminal justice system. Yonts was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison, but outgoing-Governor Ernie Fletcher later reduced the sentence to eight years. Yonts is the son of state Representative Brent Yonts of Greenville.
