Local Humane Society workers ask people to keep their pets out of the heat this week. Paducah Humane Society employee Dalena Hall says, if pets must be outside during the heat advisories, caretakers should provide ample amounts of water and shade. She says providing a wading pool is a good idea to keep pets cool. The area's heat advisory, with heat indexes reaching up to 110 degrees, continues until 7 p.m. tonight.
