Knoxville, TN – Hotter-than-normal weather has boosted the Tennessee Valley Authority's bottom line.
TVA electricity sales increased 6% in the third quarter of fiscal year 2010, compared with the same period a year ago.
TVA Chief Financial Officer John Thomas says average temperatures were about five degrees hotter than normal in May and June in the utility's service area. Sales to large industrial customers during the period were up by 12% compared to last year, which Thomas says indicates some signs of growth in the regional economy.
