3G not coming to Calloway, western counties

By Jacque Day

Paducah, Ky. – AT&T will provide 3G mobile broadband service to McCracken County beginning August 16. AT&T Kentucky President Mary Pat Regan announced the expansion this morning at a Paducah Chamber breakfast. The company reports more than a dozen 3G cell sites will go active in the county. Full completion of 3G services to the entire City of Paducah, including an additional 18 cell sites in Ballard, Graves, Livingston and Marshall counties, as well as Massac County, Illinois, will go live in October and November. But Calloway County, including the AT&T customer base at Murray State University, could be out of luck. Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman counties are not slated for 3G cell sites in this phase.
