Communties Get More Ice Storm Money

By Angela Hatton

Frankfort, KY – Seventeen communities affected by the 2009 Ice Storm are getting an extra $1.2 million for continued recovery. The Community Emergency Relief Fund or CERF grants will go toward debris removal and clean-up. Marshall County and some of its communities received the most funds, totaling $264,000. Governor Steve Beshear says even though the ice storm occurred over a year ago, many communities are still feeling the effects. Beshear says the money will help supplement the cash-strapped local government.
