Paducah, KY – School district officials say Paducah Public Schools will feed all 2,900 of its students breakfast and lunch for free in the upcoming school year under a national program.
The Paducah Sun reports the change covers Clark, McNabb and Morgan elementary schools, Paducah Middle, Paducah Tilghman and Choices Alternative School. Elementary school parents will save between 274 and 450 dollars for the school year. Parents of older students will save between 325 and 5 hundred dollars. A la carte items will be extra.
Paducah Public Schools Superintendent Randy Greene says he doesn't expect the program to cost any additional money. Greene says the district's high number of students eligible for free or reduced lunches, along with a la carte sales, should actually create a small revenue.
