Madisonville, KY – A Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputy is suspended without pay after he allowed a prisoner to escape twice in eight days. Deputy Richie Baldwin begins his suspension Sunday, and will return to road detail September 5. The Madisonville Messenger reports Baldwin has been on desk duty while officers investigated escapes made by Brandon Polley. Polley escaped once from Baldwin's patrol car, and again after he had been recaptured. During the second attempt, Polley held five people hostage at gunpoint in a home. The investigation determined human error was the cause in both cases.
