Kentucky – Six Kentucky state workers filed suit today aimed at sparing corrections offers and social workers from furlough. They say to furlough state workers like prison guards puts public safety in jeopardy. Last month, Governor Steve Beshear announced plans to furlough 36,000 state workers for six days during the current fiscal year. The measure aims to save $24 million. The Louisville Courier-Journal reports, a hearing is scheduled for August 16 in Franklin Circuit Court.
