Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Valley Authority reports its highest demand for electricity since 2007. Last week, TVA met a peak of almost 32,000 megawatts on the afternoon of August 4th. The all-time record is 33,482 megawatts set in August of 2007. Demand is expected to remain high until the weekend.
TVA forecasters say monthly average temperatures in May, June and July were all above normal. The average temperature in July was 93 degrees, three degrees above normal. August is expected to be four degrees above normal.
