Murray, KY – Murray city officials have sworn in a new police chief. Today is Chief Jeff Liles first day on the job. City Administrator Matt Mattingly says Liles has 19 years with the force and is the past department major. Liles' new goals for the department include increased pay for officers and funding for a new public safety building. He also hopes to strengthen the department's relationship with the community. Liles replaces Ken Claud, who retired at the end of July. Fire Chief Michael Skinner also retired at the end of last month. Mattingly says the search for a new fire chief continues. He says city officials will interview 13 candidates the week of August 23. They hope to announce the new hire by the end of September.
