TVA Raises Rates

By AP

Knoxville, TN – For seven months in a row now, Tennessee Valley Authority customers will pay an increased fuel cost in September. The utility says residential bills will increase between $1 and $3 over last month's, depending on usage levels. The 2% increase is due to decreased hydro-power generation in July and higher than normal temperatures forcing TVA to rely on more costly resources. In July, TVA's sales were 9% higher than forecast and fuel costs for July were 25% higher than forecast.
