Mayfield, KY – A man who pleaded guilty last month to murdering his wife six years ago was handed a 20-year prison sentence yesterday. 30-year-old Marcus Benjamin will be eligible for parole in 11 years with credit for time already served. The Paducah Sun reports Graves Circuit Judge Tim Stark accepted the manslaughter sentence to avoid trying Benjamin a third time. A 2006 jury convicted him for murder, imposing a life sentence. That conviction was overturned in 2008 and a second trial wound up with a hung jury.
