Clarksville, TN – Clarksville's electric utility CDE Lightband broke ground yesterday on a new power substation which company officials say is badly needed. Interim superintendent Brian Taylor tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle the new West Creek power substation will help lighten the load at the already at-capacity Barkers Mill Substation. Last winter power had to be drawn off the city's electricity grid to maintain full service. The construction is also readying the area for the upcoming Hemlock Semiconductor plant, which is anticipated to spur major growth there. The project is expected to be completed sometime next year.
