McCracken County Schools Keep Property Tax

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – McCracken County's Board of Education will retain the current property tax rate for next year. The rate is just over 50 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed value. District-1 board member Michael Hatton tells the Paducah Sun he doesn't want to add any more financial pressure on families. The approved tax rate is expected to generate more than $12 million for the county's schools. The board may have to raise school property taxes next year if real estate values continue to fall. The recession and home foreclosures have contributed to a recent decline in property value growth.
