Nashville, TN – The Cumberland River has risen because of heavy rain upstream in Nashville. The levels lapped at the city's grassy riverbank cresting at 34 feet before receding this morning without flooding. The flood stage is 40 feet there. Historic flooding in early May killed 22 people in Tennessee and caused more than $2 billion in damage in Nashville alone. The National Weather Service predicts more rain forecast for Saturday is not expected to be heavy enough to cause more flooding.
