Clarksville to Delay Fire Station over Airport Waste Center

By Chris Taylor

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville is ready to construct a fire station on Tiny Town Road but officials plan to delay the project until the Bi-County Solid Waste convenience center by Outlaw Field is moved. Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper told the Regional Airport Authority board last week he'll not put the project to bid unless the center is relocated to another part of the airport's property. Airport Authority Vice Chairman Jerry Clark tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle relocating the center may be a problem because it doesn't support an aeronautical use and can attract birds, which can be a safety hazard for aircraft. The fire station would, however, would improve service to the airfield.
