Louisville, KY – Kentucky businesses may have a large, untapped market in Cuba. That's according to Cuba News editor Larry Luxner. He says Cuba can't afford to trade with American businesses, but the Obama administration is expected to ease travel restrictions there soon. He says the nation would have a sudden demand for goods to sell to tourists.
"The poultry industry might benefit. The liquor industry spirits would benefit because there would be more of a market to sell to tourists. Anything tourists consume."
Luxner says Kentucky was among several states that sent delegations to Cuba to discuss agricultural trade earlier this decade, but little has come of the negotiations. Luxner writes about Kentucky businesses and Cuba in the latest issue of the Lane Report.
