Mayfield, KY – The Mayfield Board of Zoning Adjustments votes this morning on whether to grant a conditional use permit to Somali Muslims who want to establish a mosque. The proposed mosque is part of a community center for the approximately 180 Somalis who live and work in Graves County. The board previously approved the permit August 10. But that meeting was invalidated because members of the public were not allowed to comment. Those opposed to the mosque are expected to speak at today's meeting at 10. Nearby business owners have cited parking as a concern. The proposed mosque has only six parking spaces.
