Clarksville, TN – A defamation of character lawsuit filed by two Clarksville Police officers against two former officers has been dismissed. Deputy Chief Frankie Gray and Lieutenant Bill Carney filed the suit in 2005 against former officers Kenneth Austion and Tony Blakely and civil rights group National Action Network vice president Alton McDonald. The suit claimed the three made slanderous statements during a city news conference over five years ago accusing the officers of theft and other misconduct. The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports yesterday's dismissal came after the plaintiff's filed a motion citing legal complications that weakened their case and they will likely re-file.
