Trigg County Alcohol Receipts Lower, Though Sales Still High

By Angela Hatton

Cadiz, KY – A smaller amount of July alcohol receipts in Trigg County doesn't necessarily mean fewer sales. The County's alcohol receipts for July were down $1,500 from June. That's due to legislation that went into effect July 15 in Cadiz that allows the city to collect alcohol taxes. County Alcoholic Beverage Administrator Jay Geiger says August will be even lower because Cadiz will collect a full month's worth of receipts. The county has also reached its package liquor-store limit. Businessman Brandon Oliver recently opened Trigg County Liquors, bringing the total to five. Trigg County voted to end prohibition by a narrow margin last September.
