Murray, KY – New flood maps extend the range of flood zone boundaries adding many more Murray-Calloway County properties after receiving an update by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. County Planner Dawn Gaskin tells the Murray Ledger many new residences and structures have been added in. The new maps and regulations obligating property owners to obtain flood insurance go into effect at the end of September. This is the first time in over 30 years FEMA has updated the area flood map.
