Hopkinsville, KY – Hopkinsville's Main Street Post Office is under repair after an elderly woman drove her SUV through a glass wall and into the workroom. Mailboxes and carrier cases were damaged, some mail was destroyed and a worker was slightly injured after 84-year-old Marjorie Parrish punched the accelerator intending to ease into a parking space. Parrish was uninjured. Postmaster Kevin Brunton tells the Kentucky New Era most of his employees were attending a meeting in another room and the incident could have been a lot worse. He expects operations to resume unhindered today and anyone receiving damaged or destroyed mail will be notified.
