Frankfort, KY – A Louisville native with a PhD in history from the University of Washington, Bob Sexton had headed the Prichard Committee since its formation in 1983. The grassroots organization works to improve education at all levels in Kentucky.
Praise for Sexton's unselfish service to the commonwealth is pouring in. Governor Beshear says Sexton, "influenced and enriched the education experience for generations of students."
Education Commissioner Terry Holliday is praising Sexton's "unswerving dedication to strengthening Kentucky's public education system."
A grieving Prichard Committee is promising to honor Sexton's legacy by, "continuing the important work that framed his career of public service."
Sexton died Thursday night in Lexington after a long battle with cancer. He was 68.
