Massac May Borrow

By Chris Taylor

Metropolis, IL – Massac County may be forced to take out a loan in order to fund its next employee payroll. That's while county officials seek new revenue and further cuts. County Commission Chairman Jayson Farmer tells the Paducah Sun his three-member panel yesterday agreed to meet tomorrow with other elected county officials and department heads to discuss ways to reduce expenditures. The county needs about $83,000 by next week since state reimbursements now face delays. This is reportedly the first time the county will owe more on its payroll than it has in its general fund.
