Paducah Commission to Vote on Greyhounds/Tasers

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Paducah city commissioners will vote later this month on whether to provide a $12,000 economic incentive to help Greyhound Bus Lines move its bus station center from North 4th Street to Irvin Cobb Drive across from Jackson Purchase Energy. As the part of the deal, Greyhound has agreed to operate the bus station in Paducah for at least another five years. The bus line plans to move the operation as soon as renovations at the new location are completed.

In other city highlights, Commissioners will also vote on whether to accept a $32,000 US Justice Department grant to purchase in-car cameras and tasers for officers. Police Chief James Berry says acquiring the grant was one of his initial goals after taking the post. The grant requires no local match.
