Mayfield, KY – The attorney for a Mayfield Somali man accused of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl indicates he'll push for a change of venue. Attorney Nathan Goodrich tells the Paducah Sun his client, 23-year-old Yusuf Hassan, should have his case tried in a setting with less public opinion and interest. Graves District Judge Deborah Hawkins Crooks yesterday forwarded Hassan's charge to a grand jury after police testified at a preliminary hearing. The grand jury meets mid October.
