Frankfort, KY – Kentucky residents living overseas, along with soldiers and airmen, can now receive their absentee ballots via e-mail. Secretary of State Trey Grayson announced Thursday the new e-mail method was being implemented in addition to a fax service in place since 1999.
With the new method, voters will receive the blank absentee ballot by e-mail but must send it back by regular mail. The voted ballot must be received by the county clerk by 6 p.m., local time, on election day to be counted. Voters can also track their absentee ballot on the Web. Grayson says in 2008, more than 6,500 military and overseas voters cast absentee ballots.
